A song based on memories
Memories rarely return neatly in order; often it begins with one image or sound. A song can bring such loose fragments together, without filling in missing details or making one conclusive account of it after all.
Loose images that belong together
A wet coat in the hall, a car ride with open windows or a radio that was always on can open a memory. Choose a few images that touch the same feeling or the same relationship. They don't all have to come from the same year to call up a recognisable world together.
Which memories do you want to preserve, and who or what connects them? Describe places, sounds and small events; what are you sure of, what is vague and which details may not be supplemented?
