Birthdays and personal milestones
A birthday or milestone gains meaning from what preceded it: the first steps, the perseverance and the people along the way. A song can dwell on that run-up and on what the new age or achievement means to someone.
Not only the number on the cake
On the table stand photos from different years: a far too big school bag, a first workplace, a house that still had to be renovated. Between those images lie small decisions and big changes. A song can find a line in that, or highlight precisely one turning point the celebrant finds more important than the round number or official proof.
Which age or milestone are you celebrating and what does it mean to the recipient? Which events preceded it, who helped along and which future plans may return in the lyrics?
